Effortless solutions for windows and doors

Dark front doors are a problem for south-facing houses.

Anthracite Grey and Black absorb too much heat. In the Dorset sun, the outside of the door hits 70°C while the inside stays cool.

The door turns into a banana.

The Bowed Slab

This temperature gap forces the plastic skin to expand. The door bows outward.

When the slab is bent, the steel hooks don’t line up with the frame. The locks jam. People end up shouldering the door or kicking the base of the slab just to get the key to turn.

The Broken Gearbox

Forcing the handle ruins the lock.

The internal gearbox eventually snaps under the pressure of the warped door. You are left with a door that cannot be locked.

The Aluminium Fix

Plastic-skinned composites fail in direct sun.

Aluminium-skinned doors are the only fix for south-facing properties. Aluminium doesn’t bend under thermal pressure. The door stays flat and the hooks stay lined up.

Reflecting the Heat

We also use “Cool-Skin” technology. These foils reflect infrared light to stop the surface from reaching those high temperatures in the first place.

Check the Direction

If the front of your house gets sun all day, don’t buy a dark plastic door.

Come down to 78 Alma Road or give us a call on 01202 533126. We can show you the reinforced aluminium-skin doors that actually stay straight in the summer.
