Effortless solutions for windows and doors

People spend fifty grand on a massive kitchen extension.

They put six metres of sliding doors across the back. They drop a huge glass lantern on the roof. It looks incredible.

Then July hits. They can’t even sit in the room.

The Greenhouse Effect

Standard glass magnifies the sun.

A south-facing extension gets battered by UV rays all day long. That massive roof lantern acts exactly like a greenhouse. The heat pours in and has nowhere to go.

The room hits 40 degrees. You start sweating just making a cup of tea.

People end up buying ugly stick-on blinds to cover up the glass they just paid a fortune for. It defeats the whole point of the extension.

The Solar Control Fix

You don’t have to live in an oven.

You just need the right glass. Standard double glazing is designed to keep winter heat in. That is the exact opposite of what you want in the middle of summer.

You need Solar Control glass.

It has an invisible metallic coating baked right into the pane.

Bounce the Heat

The sun hits the roof lantern. The Solar Control glass bounces the heat straight back outside. But all the natural light still floods into the kitchen.

It works like a shield.

The room stays cool. You don’t need expensive air conditioning. You don’t need to draw the blinds. You actually get to sit in the room you paid to build.

Don’t Skimp on the Roof

For the vertical doors, standard glass is usually fine.

But for a flat roof lantern catching the midday sun, Solar Control is mandatory. Don’t build a dark box, and don’t build an oven either.
