Bournemouth is full of awkward garages.
We see them constantly in areas like Charminster, Winton, and Moordown. The houses have been standing for decades, and the garages were built for Austin Minis, not modern family cars.
Maybe you have a “tunnel” garage that runs tight alongside the house. Maybe there’s a waste pipe running right across the lintel, or the ceiling is just incredibly low.
We see this every week. You call a national company, they take one look at the lack of headroom, and tell you: “Sorry, we can’t fit an electric door in there.”

Don’t listen to them. They just don’t have the right kit.
The “Tunnel Garage” Struggle
Standard sectional garage doors usually need about 200mm to 300mm of clearance above the opening to curve the tracks back into the room.
In many local renovations, you just don’t have that space. You might have a concrete beam or a newly plastered ceiling that limits you. If you try to jam a standard door in there, you end up losing drive-through height, which means you might scrape the roof of your SUV or van.
That is why we stock the Infinity Zero.
The Infinity Zero: Built for Tight Squeezes
The Infinity Zero is designed specifically for this headache. It’s a sectional door that operates with a completely different spring system.
Instead of needing a huge amount of space above the door, it can work with significantly less headroom. It allows you to have a fully insulated, electric sectional door in a garage where others said it was impossible.
Roller Doors: The Space Saver
If the Infinity Zero doesn’t suit, we often look at Roller Garage Doors.
Because these roll up vertically into a compact box (usually about 300mm square), they don’t need tracks running back into the garage at all.
This is a massive win if you use your garage for storage. You can stack boxes right up to the ceiling in the back of the garage because there are no tracks in the way. It also means you can park your car right up against the door on the driveway.
Don’t Guess, Get it Measured
These tricky spaces are where the “Trade Counter” experience matters.
If you buy a door online from a generic website, and you get the headroom calculation wrong by 20mm, the door won’t fit. You’re stuck with it.
When you come to us, we check the details. We look at the “reveal” (the brickwork on the side) and the headroom. If there is a gas pipe in the way, we figure out a workaround.
There is almost always a solution. You just need the right door specification.
