A locked front door won’t stop a “fishing” attack.
Burglars in Bournemouth use telescopic rods to steal cars without stepping inside. They don’t break glass or snap locks. They just use the hole in your door.
The Hallway Target
Standard letterboxes are a massive security hole.
Open the flap and you can see straight into the hallway. If your car keys or wallet are on the side table, they are gone. A hook on the end of a rod snags the keys in seconds.
The Shroud Fix
You need an anti-fishing letterplate.
These have an internal metal shroud. It’s a hood that blocks the view and stops any rod from angling upward. If they can’t see the keys, they can’t fish for them.
Anti-Snap Metal
Cheap plastic letterboxes are easily ripped off the door.
We supply heavy-duty metal plates with anti-snap fixings. You can’t pry them off to get a hand through the gap.
The Simple Rule
Move your keys away from the door.
But if you want to fix the vulnerability, upgrade the hardware. It’s cheaper than an insurance excess.
Come down to 78 Alma Road or give us a call on 01202 533126. We have the anti-fishing plates on the counter. Try to look through one, it’s impossible.
